Great news! As the road for Philippine’s top e-wallet service provider goes neck and neck, Maya (formerly PayMaya) is now introducing usernames! As of this writing it is believed that there are now 2 ways for you to send money to a different Maya user. First is by using the recipient’s mobile number, second is by using your own unique username!; and setting it up is frankly very easy!
As the digital age was sped up by the pandemic, everyone is trying to get their foothold of establishing dominance and uniqueness in the market. Frankly, username is one thing that is best to easily identify a user just like how Twitter handles have been more of an aftertaste that you may most of the time remember and at the latter be something you easily forget. But how do you access the creation of your username? If the feature is now available on your account you could just simply follow the steps you’d see below:
Time needed: 5 minutes
How to Create your Username on Maya
- Open your Maya App
- Open your navigation drawer by tapping on the top left of your screen
- If you are eligible to create a username a Create your username section should be visible
- Type in your desired username
- Click on Confirm
- Encode the system provided OTP
- Click on Verify
- Click on Done
Upon successful username creation, you’d be presented by a receipt on the Transactions section of your Maya app.
By doing the listed steps above, you should now be able to give out your username to anyone you wish. It is not clear if you could pick a username without being verified as we haven’t get a hold of an unverified Maya account of this writing just yet. However, it would be very reasonable and just makes sense that it is the primary thing you need to do before being able to create your own Maya username. Personally I think it would be great if your number could be hidden when sending it via username but perhaps that totally defeats the purpose of having to register mobile numbers.
Or maybe that’s something for future use? What are your thoughts? Care to share your insights on our comment box down below?
