In a recent post, we’ve shared how to disable developer options in your Android devices. Yet another probable cause could be the source of you being unable to access the GCash app. Since the update, it is believed that a turned on setting for installation of unknown sources could also trigger this.
By default, Android devices prohibit the installation of apps from unverified sources. This is a security measure to prevent the installation of malware on your device. While some users enable this feature to install apps from outside the Google Play Store, GCash recommends disabling it to prevent hijacking and other security risks.
Here are the steps to disable installations from Unknown Sources on Android devices:
Time needed: 2 minutes
Disable installation from unknown sources
- Go to your phone’s Settings and search for Unknown Sources/Apps, Untrusted Sources, or Install apps from external sources.
- Toggle the switch button to disable this setting for all apps.
- Restart your phone and try opening the GCash app again.
