Late this evening, something strange happened. Reports started pouring in that the GCash app has disappeared from the Google Play Store. Can you believe it? When people searched for GCash in the app store, it was nowhere to be found! Even a direct link to the app store showed negative results.
Don’t Worry, It’s Not Everywhere
But hold on, don’t panic just yet. The good news is that GCash is still available on Apple’s iTunes App Store and Huawei’s AppGallery. So, this weird incident is only happening on the Google Play Store.
What’s GCash Saying?
Now, here’s the interesting part. GCash’s official Facebook page didn’t say anything about the app disappearing. Instead, they posted warnings about fake news. It seems like some people are spreading rumors and trying to scam GCash users by using this app removal as an opportunity.
History Repeats Itself
Believe it or not, this isn’t the first time something like this has happened. Back in April 2019, GCash was also temporarily removed from the app store without any explanation. It seems like GCash has had its fair share of disappearing acts.
Update Since the Mishap
After roughly 12 hours since netizens took notice of the FinTech giant missing from Google PlayStore, GCash now released an official statement/advisory that reads

GCash is updating some features of the app for Android users and is closely working with Google to make it available on the Play Store again. For users who wish to download the app from the Google Play Store, kindly stay tuned for more updates.
Current GCash users can use the app and they can be assured that their accounts and funds are safe and secure.
The GCash app remains available on the Apple App Store and the Huawei App Gallery. Do not download the GCash app from untrusted sources.
