Automatic Updates for Better Security and Longevity
Google just made a big announcement about Chromebooks. They said that from now on, all Chromebook platforms will get regular automatic updates for a whopping 10 years! That’s longer than any other operating system out there.
So, what does this mean? Well, it simply means that Chromebooks will receive automatic updates every four weeks to make them more secure and last longer.
Updates for Different Chromebook Models
Now, let’s talk about the timeline. Starting from 2021, Chromebooks that are released will automatically get updates for 10 years. But what about the ones released before 2021? Well, for those, users and admins will have the option to extend the automatic updates to 10 years from when the platform was released.
Strong Security Features
Even if a Chromebook stops receiving automatic updates, don’t worry! Google has got your back. They made sure that all Chromebooks come with strong built-in security features like Verified Boot. This feature checks your Chromebook every time you start it up to make sure everything is safe and secure.
